Why the Name Repent

 

The name Repent comes from the Greek word μετανοέω (metanoeō), which means to change your mind. It is the call Jesus made to all people: to rethink who God is, who we are, what sin truly is, and how salvation is received. This action produces repentance μετάνοια(metanoia) — a transformed mind and heart that leads to a renewed life in Christ.

Repentance is not merely feeling sorry for sin. It is a radical reorientation of our mind, heart, and actions — leaving self, pride, and false righteousness behind, and turning fully toward God’s grace. This inward transformation naturally changes our desires, our choices, and the way we live.

By choosing the name Repent, we are declaring the core message of the Gospel: that true change begins inside — with the mind and heart renewed by Christ — and flows outward into every part of life.
